Parent representatives

When parents become involved, the pupils become more motivated and learn more at school. A good partnership between home and school best takes place through a dialogue and clarification of the expectations that the teachers and parents have as regards the child’s schooling. A close partnership between home and school concerning the pupil’s academic and social development will benefit the individual pupil.

Why are parents entitled to participate in the school?
The School Poster and the UN’s human rights stress that the primary responsibility for upbringing and learning rests with the parents. It is also clearly defined in the Norwegian Children Act and Education Act. The National Parents’ Committee for Primary and Lower Secondary Education (FUG) shall work to ensure that this legislation has a real content and that the school lays the foundations to ensure that parents have a real influence.
